Happy 160th Birthday AIA. Founded this day in 1857 in New York City.
AIA Eastern Ohio is 85 and we are celebrating our birthday with a member and allied member/sponsor mix and mingle. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Pioneer Pavilion at Millcreek park with Food and Drinks to be provided by V2. With nearly 20 corporate sponsors this year, the Eastern Ohio Chapter continues to promote the value of architecture throughout the region. Please visit our Allied Members and Sponsors page for more information on those who help support our effort locally. Originally founded as an unincorporated association first chartered by the Institute on March 25, 1930, the chapter was formally incorporated as a non-profit membership corporation on April 26, 1955.
The Kent State University CAED Golf Outing was held on May 18, 2015 at the Westfield Country Club in Westfield Center, Ohio and once again was an outstanding success. The outing, Kent States largest, generates funds each year to help support the scholarship program at the CAED. While the final numbers are still being reviewed, it is anticipated that this years effort exceeded $30,000 in income for the program. Thank you to everyone who participated and we hope to see you on the course again next year.
The 2015 AIA Ohio Design Awards Call for Entries has been released and you are invited to participate in this time honored program of recognizing quality projects designed by Ohio Architects. This program will promote and focus on quality design, sustainability and the AIA's 10 principles of livable communities. The Design Awards program is a great way for firms and members to promote the architectural profession and value of architecture. The deadline for submissions is July 15th and we don't want you to miss this opportunity to be part of this years program. Member architects who are the Designer of Record of projects completed since January 1, 2009 are invited to participate. The projects will be recognized at the AIA Ohio Valley Region Convention in Columbus, Oh, October 11-13. To find out more about the program, visit the AIA Ohio website.

The AIA Ohio PAC has established the 2015 goals for members of Ohio's seven chapters. These goals have been developed to challenge from across the state to become part of the AIA Ohio advocacy effort and to raise money to support our efforts at the Statehouse. The PAC is one of the tools AIA Ohio uses to work with supporters of the AIA who share similar concerns on the issues affecting the built environment. The Eastern Ohio share for this year is $1,680 from at least 20 Contributors from within the Chapter. As we all know, the amount contributed is important and that is the obvious reason goals are set each year by the committee. It is equally important however, for us to involve as many members in the advocacy effort as possible, and that is why the committee has established a contributor goal. We hope you will help AIA Ohio PAC meet their goal of raising at least $14,120 this year from 280 Contributors. To check out the progress of those efforts to date, visit the AIA Ohio PAC Contribution page of the AIA Ohio website.
The Eastern Ohio Chapter, as Ohio's smallest AIA Component, has traditionally raised some of the highest contributions for both the AIA Ohio PAC and ArchiPAC, the AIA's federal PAC. We ask that each member help us continue this tradition by making a contribution to each PAC over the next several months. The PAC is one way that each and every member of the AIA can be actively involved in the advocacy effort. Please visit the AIA Ohio PAC webpage to make a contribution. You can also make contributions on line to the national PAC by visiting our website at www.archipac.org.
The Ohio Valley Region is one of the top regions in developing fund raising efforts for the PAC. We ask that all members contribute to the PAC is some meaningful way. For more information, visit the link the AIA Ohio website.
