The heated debate regarding the use of the title "architect" has prompted a number of letters and emails:

"Dear President Chong: I am writing on behalf of the Board of the Maryland Society of the American Institute of Architects to express our State Board's opposition to the expansion of the title "architect" to anyone other than licensed architects...". To read more of the letter from Ravi S. Waldon, AIA President, Maryland Society of the American Institute of Architects, click here.

The above letter prompted this response:

"This message is being sent to the presidents list by Thomas J. Lominack AIA [jerry@lksarchitects.com]: --- Although AIA Georgia has not taken a stand, AIA Savannah (Georgia) is in agreement with Maryland and Ohio on this issue. I would expect AIA Georgia to take a similar stand in cacus at the Convention. From my perspective, it appears that this is the feeling of the vast majority of the membership. Jerry Lominack, AIA President, AIA Savannah "
